Staff engagement and volunteering

Team-building and enhanced staff morale are just two of the pay-offs when staff are engaged with a charity in their workplace. Other benefits include:

Employer of choice when it comes to attracting candidates
Fewer sick days
Happier staff and higher productivity
Pride in their employer and their charity alignment

Staff engagement through fundraising

This is a fun and easy way to build team moral while contributing to childhood cancer research. Here are some great ideas:

Mufti days
Team sports challenges
Gala balls
Raffles
Morning or afternoon teas
Trivia nights
Lost time initiatives (tied to OH&S goals)
All staff updates
Staff picnics and family days
Awards nights and Christmas parties
International food day
Second-hand book stall or garage sale

Volunteering

CCIA relies on the dedication of our volunteers to enable us to continue our research. We can provide regular opportunities for your staff to volunteer with CCIA. Our fundraising events range from weekend walkathons and black-tie dinners to Christmas campaigns and in-office administration. The main role of a volunteer is to help where needed on the day with jobs such as selling raffle tickets, assisting with auctions, serving refreshments or being an usher. CCIA events are Australia-wide, so you can join us in your local Australian state.

Skilled support

Skilled support and pro bono volunteering opportunities are many and varied. We truly value the help of volunteers with professional skills. They help to enrich and develop the skills of CCIA staff members and help us ensure our systems are as efficient as possible. We can always use pro bono volunteers on projects related to:

Media
Public relations
Graphic design
Web design
Financial reporting/auditing
HR recruitment
Legal and compliance
Office support and admin
Copywriting and editing

Spotlight on a staff engagement partner... Brickworks Limited

“In 2009, Brickworks employees were invited to play a direct part in sponsoring CCIA’s vital work, by donating $1 a week from their salary. In return, staff are given a “Care for Cancer Kids” casual Friday shirt, which they can wear with their own casual clothes. Everyone wins: we create a fun working environment while raising important funds. This has been a popular program and one we will continue into the future. Brickworks have been a proud supporter of CCIA since 2001, but this new initiative is just one way we can inspire the staff and contribute to finding a cure for childhood cancers through world-class research.”
