Biography
Peter Wejbora has held a variety of senior roles within the medical research field, spanning the university, government and independent medical research sectors. His areas of focus have included business strategy, corporate governance, government advocacy, research development, commercialisation, and management of multi-institutional partnerships.
As Director of Research Development and Partnerships, as well as Company Secretary at Children’s Cancer Institute, Peter has responsibility for legal/commercialisation and the development of strategic research proposals and partnerships. Prior to joining the Institute, he was Director of Strategic Research Investment at Cancer Institute NSW, where he oversaw and managed investment in excess of $170m into programs to facilitate high quality cancer research.
Peter joined the NSW Health Minister’s China Advisory Group in 2016, and in 2019 was asked to become the Australian representative to ACCELERATE, a global alliance of industry, academia and government regulators aimed at developing and providing access to innovative drugs for children with cancer.
Peter has previously held memberships of the Australian Breast Cancer Tissue Bank Advisory Board, the Australian Sheep Genomics Commercialisation Advisory Committee, and the governing board of the National Collaborative Infrastructure Scheme – Imaging. He was the participant representative to the Irrigation Futures Cooperative Research Centre, and a member of both the governing committee of the Australian Lead Identification Consortium and the management committee of Luminesce Alliance. He is currently a non-executive director of the Cancer Therapeutics Cooperative Research Centre.
