I'm taking on the Athlete’s Ice Bath

I am raising funds to support the critical work done by the world leading researchers at Children's Cancer Institute to find a cure for young people affected by cancer

Children’s Cancer Institute (“CCIA”) is Australia’s only independent medical institute dedicated to finding cures for childhood cancer.

I am taking part in the 2024 CEO Dare to Cure Challenge on October 25th to help the world leading researchers at CCIA to continue their important work, in particular for the Matty’s Hope research project into Diffuse Hemispheric Glioma (G34-DHG).

Your support (financial and/or raising awareness of cancer in young people) would be greatly appreciated (https://www.ccia.org.au/fundraisers/raymondlam/ceo-dare-to-cure)

To show our appreciation and enhance the impact of your contributions, our family will also be providing 1x matching for all donations received (up to A$60,000).

In 2023, our extended family partnered with the Brain Tumor Group at the Children's Cancer Institute to establish Matty's Hope (https://www.ccia.org.au/event/mattys-hope/home), Australia's first dedicated research project into Diffuse Hemispheric Glioma (G34-DHG), a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. This project is intended to be a long-term endeavor to improve our understanding of and develop novel drug treatments for this devastating disease and other forms of brain cancer.

For an overview of the project and the progress made by the research team led by Dr David Ziegler, Dr Maria Tsoli and Dr Kenny Ip during the first 18 months, please see the video links below.

This work is made only possible through the generous support of the community, who to date have contributed over A$240,000 towards this project.

Brain cancer currently kills more Australian children and adolescents than any other cancer. 5-year survival rate is ~61%, which is much lower than those of other forms of childhood cancer (~85%). Whilst significant progress has been made in other areas such as leukaemia, treatment options for brain cancer remain disappointingly limited.

I am continuing this effort by taking on the Ice Bath Challenge at the 2024 CEO Dare to Cure event on October 25th.

We hope our collective efforts will move the ball forward and one day improve the lives of children and young people affected by brain cancer as well as their families.

Thank you for your support
