Cancer Biology

Our work is focused on understanding how cancer develops and evades current treatments, leading to new ways to prevent and eradicate it.

Head of Theme

Overview

The Cancer Biology Theme is committed to advancing our understanding of cancer at the most fundamental level. Our research teams focus on the origins and progression of cancer, investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms that drive this complex disease. In doing so, we aim to gain new insights that pave the way for innovative therapeutic and prevention strategies.

Research aims

Our broad aims are to understand the causes and molecular drivers of children's cancers, and to translate our research discoveries into tangible benefits for children with cancer.

Approaches

Our approaches include applying genomics, functional assays, and clinical research to identify new cancer risk genetics and markers, and evaluate the impact of our findings on clinical care. We use a wide range of innovative systems and methodologies to understand how oncogenes drive cancer cell survival and proliferation.
