Children’s Cancer Institute is the only independent medical research institute in Australia wholly dedicated to curing childhood cancer. Cancer kills more children than any other disease, so our research is critical. With the brightest brains, cutting-edge facilities, and the greatest determination, we will get the job done.
Our story
Children's Cancer Institute was established in 1976 by a dedicated group of parents of children with cancer and their doctors. First established as a foundation to fund childhood cancer research, we opened our own research laboratories in 1984. Since then, we have grown to employ more than 300 researchers, students and operational staff and are recognised as one of the leading international child cancer research institutes.
Our people
Curing all children of cancer requires a collaborative team of experts; people who are passionate, committed and determined. Our team is diverse in skills but united in purpose. We are single-minded in our drive to cure childhood cancer.
Our facilities
To solve the complex problem of childhood cancer, we need the best available tools. Situated in one of the largest cancer research centres in the southern hemisphere, our purpose-built facilities are world-class and cutting-edge.
