As Australian Croatians, members of our community and our community associations have, over many decades, excelled at helping those in need both here in Australia and those living in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. One could say that our community serves two homelands - the one we live in and the one we left behind but never forgot.

We are proud to be hosting a Gala Dinner to support needs of children in Australia via Children's Cancer Institute.

Australian Croatian Children's Fund is a not-for-profit organisation registered in the state of NSW and based in Sydney. The purpose of the organisation is to support children's hospitals and paediatric medicine and care, including medical research, and to help in healing and providing hope to children who are facing illnesses, injuries and other medical conditions in Croatia and Australia. 

Each of its fundraising events are dedicated to raising funds to help children either in Croatia or Australia and such a fundraising event will be clearly stated in the promotion of each event. Funds raised can:

• Provide hospitals with medical equipment, care, assistance and support services (for children and their families).
• Assist in research that advances an understanding of children's illnesses and new treatments.
• Promote awareness-raising initiatives; and
• Support exchange programs between Australian and Croatian health professionals.

We are so very proud of our Croatian Community's achievements over the many decades as part of the Australian society and wish to use this Gala Dinner opportunity to celebrate our Croatian Community's enormous generosity. This generosity will benefit children suffering from cancer via donating to Children's Cancer Institute's life-saving research. Among these children are also children whose parents or grandparents originate in Croatia and with your help we wish to make their lives better and safer from such an illness.

We, the Australian Croatian Children's Fund organisers, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity in donating funds that will invest in a future for our children and those to be born yet, that will hopefully be free of cancer.

Every year more than 1000 Australian children and adolescents will be diagnosed with cancer, and every week nearly three Australian children and adolescents will die of cancer. Children's Cancer Institute exists solely to put a stop to this.

As the only independent medical research institute in Australia wholly dedicated to childhood cancer, their role is vital. Because despite their progress cancer still kills more children than any other disease.
