Help us beat childhood cancer!

Our daughter Charli was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (blood cancer) in May 2020, at 9 years old - and our lives were instantly turned upside down...

What followed were 2 long years of intense, brutal treatment with endless side effects and trauma. 

It's been a rollercoaster ride, where we faced childhood cancer head-on, and were gobsmacked to learn that some of the treatments Charli received date back to the 1960's and were designed for adults, not young bodies that are still developing. 

There's no doubt about it, the impact of what Charli and our family have been through will last a lifetime, which is why we're hellbent on helping other families who find their child diagnosed with childhood cancer. 

Cancer kills three children every week in Australia - more than any other disease.  And 70% of the children like Charli who survive, suffer long-term side effects from their treatment.

This needs to stop. 

For some types of cancer, such as certain brain tumours, there are still no effective treatment options. For other cancers, the only treatments available cause serious problems, sometimes for the remainder of the child's life. Even then a child is successfully treated, there is the ever-present threat of relapse, and the wait to see if there will be 'late effects' that become apparent as the child matures. 

These challenges require novel solutions, and it is research that will provide these.

Which is why we've partnered with the Childhood's Cancer Institute who combine the brightest minds, cutting edge technology and an unwavering determination to pioneer research which will deliver safer and more effective treatments for children with cancer.

We need more research, better - more tailored - treatment options, and considerably more funding (currently childhood cancer receives only 3% of the funding dedicated to cancer from the federal budget! Our children are worth so much more).

To do this, the Children's Cancer Institute need our support...

So 'Shine Like Charli' are pledging to raise $100,000 over the next 12 months to support critical research into childhood cancer and we would be incredibly grateful for your support.
