Support our Challenge to Help Kids with Cancer!
Charli is a warrior. Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia when she was 9 years old, her journey has been nothing short of harrowing. The endless cycles of chemo, surgeries, steroids, and hospital stays took a brutal toll, but Charli fought through and is now nearly three years post-treatment. Yet, surviving cancer is only part of the story. Charli faces ongoing challenges like PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, and stomach issues caused by the harsh treatments.
Her journey is a stark reminder that while survival is a milestone, it’s not the end of the fight. Treatments for childhood cancer are harsh, outdated, and life-altering. And heartbreakingly, not every child gets the chance to fight their way through. In Australia, cancer kills three children every week—more than any other disease.
That’s why Charli’s mum, Faye, works at Children’s Cancer Institute. She knows that no amount of teddy bears or gift bags can change this reality. The only thing that will save kids’ lives and give them brighter futures is research—finding safer, kinder treatments and, ultimately, a cure for all childhood cancers.
This March, our Shine Like Charli team is stepping up for the 86K for a Cure challenge to honour Charli and fight for every child facing cancer. Every month, 86 children in Australia are diagnosed with cancer. That’s 86 families thrust into years of hospital visits, invasive treatments, and unimaginable heartache.
By joining our team or donating, you’ll be helping to fund the life-saving research that creates real change. Together, we can give children like Charli not just a chance to survive—but to truly thrive.
