Support My 86km Challenge to Help Kids Like Tom Beat Cancer!

Hi, I'm Mel.

In December 2022, my eldest child, Tom, was devastatingly diagnosed with Metastatic Rhabdomyosarcoma at just 7 years old.

Over the next 15 months, he endured 35 rounds of chemotherapy (112 doses of toxic medicine) and 30 days of radiation. The physical toll was immense, but the impact of childhood cancer goes far beyond the treatment itself. His once energetic body was ravaged by illness and confined to hospital rooms, while the simple joys of childhood—playing with friends, going to school, feeling healthy—vanished. Even after completing treatment, the emotional and psychological scars remain, with ongoing anxiety, mental health struggles, and physical challenges that serve as constant reminders of the long-lasting effects of cancer. 

The toll is not just in the fight for survival, but in the enduring trauma that reshapes life long after the medical battle ends.

While Tom very enthusiastically celebrated the end of his treatment in April 2024, I’m now taking on this challenge for the 86 children, like Tom, who are diagnosed with cancer each month. Together, we can raise awareness and work towards finding a cure for childhood cancer, while also creating safer, more effective treatments for these brave kids.
